This rod was built on a 4
weight 8'6" 4piece Sage blank. The guides are
titanium nitrate coated double foot snake guides wrapped
with gold
metallic under wraps and forest green silk over wraps. The
butt
wraps are metallic gold under wraps with feather inlays. At
the base
of the inlays, right in front of the winding check there are
12 #30
Temco scud hooks inlaid around the blank. All the
metal hardware is
titanium made and engraved by Ray. The handle is stabilized
maple
burl and burl cork. The reel seat barrel is stabilized box
elder
burl. Notice there are no exposed threads on the up locking
reel
seat. The threads on a traditional designed reel seat
always looked
out of place with Ray's turned parts and engraving. So a
reel seat
was designed that put the threads on the inside of the reel
seat.
This set was made with a custom leather covered rod tube and
a custom
rod bag.
Ray also customized and engraved the accompanying reel, an
Abel .5.
